Personal Reflections on Family Ties

It has been an extraordinary month of Mishpucha*finding and Mishpucha searching which occurred quite spontaneously and out of the blue. It began with a phone call, from a La Jolla, California woman we never heard of, who was searching to confirm a relationship to Bill’s maternal grandfather’s side of the family, the Midas branch. Bill did not have any knowledge of  her until he researched Charles Stanton’s records and found she was related through his grandfather’s uncle.

Bill also learned about an ancestor, though marriage, Rabbi Isaac Löwi, who was chief rabbi of Fürth in the 19th century. He was quite a remarkable figure, in many ways, as noted in JewishEncyclopedia.com. CLICK HERE  to see a picture of his tombstone which just arrived from Germany.

In addition, an American man, searching for information about a German relative who held a Haitian passport, during the Shoah, was referred to us by Edgar Rosenberg. We in turn, suggested our contacts including Frank Harris, whose contacts were able to help obtain information about his Mishpucha. CLICK HERE for the story of this very successful search with many surprising twists and turns.
