Juan Carlos Emden’s Daughter with Two Recovered Canalettos That Were Robbed by the Nazis

Update received June 10, 2020 from Juan Carlos Emden:

“Hitler took 3 paintings of Canaletto/Bellotto from my family. Two have been returned by the German government after 18 years fighting. They are going to auction in London ,  where 2 attorneys (one in Marburg, Germany and the other in NY City) take about 60% of the proceeds of a sale scheduled on July 28. One remains in the hands of the Fine Arts Museum in Houston, Texas unreturned to us with only an attitude of “Bad faith and dishonesty.” Hitler and his friends took a whole collection of art from us, between Germany and Switzerland between 1938 and 1945. My father came to Chile with Haitian papers delivered to him at the Haitian consulate in Geneva, Switzerland, and nothing left from the war.”
